Chris has worked in the resort industry for twenty years. After completing a degree in Business Administration and Tourism and Resort Management, he worked in operations management and consulting in several locations before returning to his favorite town in the world, Durango, Colorado. With a background in four-star resort management and homeowner relations, Chris has a wealth of knowledge about the resort real estate market and the income derived from the rental of investment property.
Chris’ history with Durango dates back to 1988 when he started his career at Tamarron Resort while working part-time at Purgatory (now Durango Mountain Resort) as a ski instructor. Through the years he has seen the community go through a dynamic pace of growth and change.

It is situated in arguably the most beautiful setting in all of the United States, and offers 'out the back door' access to world-class fishing, four-wheeling, hiking, climbing, skiing, mountain biking and a host of other pursuits. Durango Mountain Resort had the vision to take an already existing resort that never reached its full aesthetic potential and reshape it into a place where the environment and the development explore synergies in a community that feels like home.”
Chris is well positioned to apply his expertise throughout the Colorado mountain region and has developed strategic alliances throughout the state. Chris is currently a principal of The Wells Group Mountain Resort Brokerage. He was formerly a Broker Associate at Durango Mountain Realty and The Director of Sales for the new base area development at Durango Mountain Resort, Purgatory Lodge. Chris is number one in the resort area and all of northern La Plata County in both sold units and volume for 2005-2009.
When he’s not in the office, Chris and his two little boys can be found with one eye on their fishing lines and the other appreciating the splendor of the Colorado Mountain West. He is an avid runner, cyclist, skier, snowboarder and hiker. He writes for Inside Outside Magazine and several of his articles have been listed in the "Articles" link on this site.

It's Amazing What You Can Hear
Imagine yourself in the mountains on a crisp, sunny day. The snow-capped Rocky peaks reflect in the placid water of mountain lakes. Somehow, things seem different up here. The hustle and bustle of the workaday world slip away into the peace and quiet. You revel in the silence. Then you stop and listen. Really listen. One by one, the sounds become clear. Birds sing in the evergreens. Mountain breezes whisper through the aspens, and newly melted snow trickles in fresh streams. It's amazing what you can hear when you take the time to listen. Janene understands the importance of listening. It has always been the key to her success as a leader in the real estate industry. Janene has taught for the Colorado Association of Realtors for 25 years. Her other teaching credits include teaching for Colorado Real Estate Commission, National Instructor for CRS, and National Instructor for CRB. Janene has been a broker in the Denver metro area for 31 years and is currently the Director of Training and Education for Re/Max Professionals.
